Pete Burns critically ill

Celebrity Big Brother star Pete Burns is critically ill in hospital with kidney failure.

The Dead or Alive singer collapsed on Wednesday and was rushed to hospital where he had five hours of emergency surgery on his kidneys.

Doctors once warned the pop star that he may face kidney problems in the future due to the number of plastic surgery operations the star has had under anaesthetic.

Writing on his website, Pete said: "I'm in a very serious condition on 24 hours intravenous morphine for the pain.

"I'm critically ill and under 24 hours observation and will be in hospital for quite a long time."

Pete said doctors found eight stones in his kidneys but were unable to remove them due to a blockage.

Last year, the 49-year-old received a £1 million payout after a surgeon admitted to a botched cosmetic surgery job on Pete's lips, which the star said 'wrecked his career and life'.

what is this country coming to !!!!!
we are all more concerned about our famous people who wouldnt be famous with out the programmes on tv. Jade started it for a good reason as far as i am concerned she knows she wont be here much longer and wanted to be albe to leave her boys to not struggle all their lives. but now neilsonns wife is critical. and so is pete. and we are in a recession. and all they want to do to is go on tv with their illnesses. that really makes me so sick. there is me and my husband bought a house last year, and now we cant afford to stay in it. and we dont have a mansion, we have a semi detached home and it cost us 3130,000 we cant afford the pole tax on it. it is now £150 a month. I am partially disabled, we are broke. the bills mount up more every day.we have a car that is 8 years old.last year because we were late twice with our council tax payment we had to pay the rest of the year in a lump sum of what was left for the last 6 months, the week before xmas. I have written to our mp about the things we are going through. but he cant help. but all these famous people who are weird a man trying to be a woman. come off of it. if it wasnt for his wedding to be on the tv he would just be a normal person who is married to a person of the same sex. but cos you all sat and watched his programme on tv he has made the money to live on. what has he done for you ever ??????

jeez bev, cheer up. we'v all got probs, and i fail to see what yr finances have got to do with any 'celebs'...sounds like jealousy to me. jeez, 8 yr old car, i cant even afford to even run one. only a semi...well i live in a terrace house, so what, big deal. poor you. stop bitching about those whove made a success of their lives. yr probs are not their making.

What have your problems got to do with anything ?

i think your lucky you only pay £150 a month council tax, on a £313000 house! come off it i pay £140 a month on a house we brought this year which cost us £140000. and then you wright to your mp! saying you can afford 150 a month when your living in a 313000 house ! we live in eastbourne which isn't a cheap place to buy a house ! you should count your lucky stars only £150 ! look forward to seeing you reply

can I ask you why you think it is Jade Goody's fault that she has cervical cancer? Cervical cancer, like ovarian cancer, is a silent killer...many women are not taken seriously by their doctors when they complain of symptoms..it is a disease that, sadly, kills many women needlessly every year - proper screening and more education is required...

I hear what you guys are saying and I dont have much sympathy for Pete. Im a nurse and deal with many critically ill patients who are unable to care or even breathe for themselves - hes not critically ill if hes going online!
Though Mick I disagree with you comments about Jade - she is dying of cancer - and whilst livestyle choices we make may influence and become risk factors for getting certain illnesses, cancer is not something anybody "catches" or sets out to get. Jade has been very dignified in her last days and my heart goes out to her and her family. Show a little more respect.

Cervical cancer is a disease you can catch. Although not all cases have been 'caught' a virus is responsible for the majority of cases.
Hence the new vaccine programme for girls. Why not boys as they pass it on.
People are demanding early screening but they should be insisting on vaccination.
A woman could marry having had no sexual partners and still get the vvvvvvirus from her new husband.

Are you havin a laugh, Jade was not dignified from the minute she found out she had cancer. she went on BB knowing shed get the results whilst on the show and hasnt been out the papers since, all for money for her kids. what about raising money for the kind of people that looked after her, or for research like other terminally ill caring people too. Money grabber to the end.

I think Pete Burns is an egotistical baffoon! There is no reason for him to have that amount of plastic surgery other than vanity! He was an ugly sod to begin with he's even an uglier sod now! What is it with these so called celebs who think they can change their apprearence and think they can get away with it? No sympathy from me. You play by the sword .... and you know the rest.

As for Jade Goody! Not her fault - I know and understand that! My step daughter had cancer and thankfully has made a full recovery although she is not out of the woods yet.

What leaves a bad taste in the mouth is that fact that Jade is spalttered all over the newspapers as if she is the only person in the world who is suffering from the same condition. She might have highlighted the desease but I sincerely get the impression that is for her own ends and nothing else. Ok, so she wants to make sure that her children will be secure for their future. How secure does she want them to be? The woman was already a multi millionaire before all this started! I think she shoukd change her first name from "Jade" to "Greed".

Jade lives in the public eye and has made a lot of money. Not bad for someone who thought East Anglia was another country. I am not interested who is at her bed side. I am bored with it and think she should have a little more dignity while going through the process, like I am sure, countless number of women have already done so.

I am a nurse and believe that the main reason people find the idea of Jade "profiting" from her illness and ultimate demise is that the vast majority of people find it hard to face the prospect of their own mortality. If it were I in that position I have absolutely no idea how I would react and what I would do! However, ultimately the choice is an individuals to make and I for one do not begrudge her the money she may or may not make from her death. The act of dying is not a dignified one no matter how hard we try to make it so. Just let her be.

Grant, I wholeheartedly agree with all that you said. I was brought up to believe that illness is not something to turn into a publicity stunt much less to profit from.
It is bad for her I know, but where is her dignity?
Even her baldness at her wedding was a sympathy vote and i'm sorry to say with all the images crammed down my throat I have very little left.
