Angelina named most powerful celebrity

Angelina Jolie has been named the most powerful celebrity in the world.

The Changeling star has topped Forbes magazines' Celebrity 100 list for the first time, beating Madonna and Oprah Winfrey to the number one spot.

Forbes say Jolie is an "extremely powerful celebrity brand" who is constantly in the "dialogue of popular culture".

Angelina's place at the top of the most powerful list comes thanks to her acting, movie roles, her children and her relationship with Brad Pitt.

A Forbes senior editor said: "In addition to nearly doubling her earnings in the past year, from £9million to £16million, Angelina Jolie is the most famous star on the planet."

Oscar-winning Jolie knocked Oprah Winfrey off the top of the list, where the TV queen has sat for two years.

Madonna was in third place, after her Sticky and Sweet world tour saw her rake in £66.9 million last year. Close behind Madge was Beyonce.

Also in the top ten were Jennifer Aniston, at number seven, and ninth placed Brad Pitt.

I know I'm being hypocritical by saying this (as I've actually been bothered to read this article), but, who cares? Really? If they're so powerful and have so much money, I wouldn't mind having some of it! And what counts as a celebrity? What about Sir Alan Sugar? Isn't he classified as being of celebrity status? What a load of rubbish. Isn't there anything better to write about? All their power comes from idiots like me who will read the article that someone has been bothered to write, and gives them a false status. If everyone decided to stop writing about Angelina, then she wouldn't be 'powerful' or famous anymore. Yes, I'm hypocritical alright, but I'm not the only one.

I'm not arguing that AJ has talent (she def does) or whether she's sexy (she def is) but, let's face it, until she hooked up with Brad and became an "Earth Mother", she was just that slightly mad actress who was married to Billy Bob Thornton (and- allegedly- carried a vial of his blood around her neck) and adopted a Cambodian baby. Weren't there nasty rumours about how close she was to her brother at one time? And look how respectable she is now!
