Ramsay row escalates into diplomatic incident

Gordon Ramsay's insults towards an Australian TV personality have sparked a diplomatic incident after the country's Prime Minister intervened.

Kevin Rudd spoke out to criticise the foul-mouthed TV chef, saying that his offensive comments reflected "a new form of low life".

Ramsay had shocked an audience at the Melbourne Food Fair by holding up an image of a naked woman with a pig's face and comparing it to popular TV host Tracy Grimshaw, whose show he had been a guest on the previous evening.

He has since sought to play down the incident and claim that he is friends with Ms Grimshaw, but she has since hit back and labelled him an "arrogant narcissist" and "a bully" on her Monday night programme.

Ramsay may have misjudged the popular mood in Australia, where public figures frequently use more coarse language than in the UK or US.

Gordon's not the only celeb to have put his foot in it lately though, as our gallery reveals...

Dont you just hate those people who love to complain about the way Gordon talks about them but do nothing but insult him and think thats fine these people should really get a life. Yes he swears but dont we all. As for the aussie prime minister getting involved well we all, know what polititions are like

I am British and i am said to say This man called Gordon Ramsay is a total Disgrace to Britain and must not be allowed of this country better still should be Barred from the
rest of the world .he was very upset when a sympathetic comment about is wife was made .what he forgot was, he did worse to the Tv presenter who happens to be someones wife , sister and a daughter !!He should be locked up in a kennel!!Remember what he did in the US.

There is a simple answer to GR. Ignore him. Don't give him the media space he craves. His cooking is probably as bad as his use of the English language, so don't watch his TV appearances. The ratings will soon return him to the gutter.

This is typical of Ramsey - what an idiot this guy is. He might be a good chef, but that's the extent of his talent. Other than that he has little to offer, finding it necessary to shock through bad language to attract attention to himself. Ever watched a child 'showing off' - see the similarity?

As far as I am concerned I have no wish to listen to foul mouth tv presenters/programmes...Plenty of other stations to watch. Having said that this is my opinion I therefore repect the opinion of others who may not agree.

they might do in the US, i spent nine months in oz, adults swear, yes, but nothing like they do in the UK.
you dont even hear the children swear in oz.

My onbly complaint about Gordon's shows is that he always uses the same word F##k. I don't have anything against swearing, he can swear as much as he likes, but it would be nice if he used a couple of different words sometimes.
As for the Australians kicking up a fuss - all I can say to them is that they should toughen up a bit. They knew what Gordon is like so what are they complaining about? It's not as if we haven't had to put up with their vulgar comedians over the years ...
