The Black Eyed Peas' tour manager has been charged with assault after controversial celeb gossip blogger Perez Hilton claimed to have been attacked.

Hilton, 31, told the world about the incident via social networking site Twitter - saying that he was assaulted outside a Toronto nightclub.

At 3am on Monday he posted: "I'm in shock. I need the police ASAP."

Hilton claimed to have got into a row with Black Eyed Peas members Fergie and Will.i.am earlier in the night.

He tweeted: "I was assaulted by Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas and his security guards. I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke."

And he later posted a video on his site claiming it was the group's tour manager Polo Molina who attacked him.

Molina, 36, later turned himself in to police in to the Canadian police, but a war of words continued between Hilton and Will.i.am via Twitter.

Will.i.am responded: "I didn't hit you. I told you that I didn't like the fact that you disrespected us. It's cool to have your opinion."

"Instead of calling the police you twittered that I assaulted you. Sounds like somebody wants mad attention and is not really concerned about his health."

And Hilton hit straight back, saying: "I would never make something like this up, or try to use something like this for press, because I don't need it.

"I called the police BEFORE I Tweeted about it. They were not showing up. I felt helpless."

Polo Molina is due to appear in court in Toronto on 5 August.
