What I can't stand is the crescendo of hypocrisy over the last 24 hours from people who for many years have regarded Wacko Jacko as at best a seriously flawed human being, at worst somebody who ought to be kept away from children. Suddenly they appear to believe he was a cross between St Francis and Mother Teresa.

Since he left the Jackson 5 I've never seen the point of Michael Jackson. He became an icon of the culrural impoverishment of the West over the last generation or so, where minor talents have been increasingly hyped into "super" and then "mega" stardom. A star is a star, no more no less. The money generated by this hype allowed him to collar the back catalogue of the Beatles, the latchet of whose shoes he was unworthy to unloose. Nothing he did was in their class, and now never will be.
May God have mercy on his tortured soul.

Well said, Niall. There is a lot of hypocrisy surrounding this man/child, who was over-rated and over-hyped. Some people just don't understand how the media circus works: they make a something out of nothing; nothin more than a freak show!

Claudia, I have no problem with your comments, except for the "racist" bit. Can you point out where the racism lies in my original post. Over the years I have had my share of being on the wrong end of racism, and hope I would never be that way inclined against another human being.

By the way, MJ was able to outsell the Beatles because disposable income for children and teens was nuch greater in the 80s than in the 60s. I would have had to save 3 months worth of pocket money in the 60s to buy one album. By the 80s it would have been more like 2/3 weeks.

Anyway my comments re the Beatles had more to do with quality than quantity; and, forgetting the Beatles, I could have made the same comparison with the Stones, Beach Boys, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes(or pretty well any other Motown artist in the 60s), and come to the same conclusion.

I do not feel sad or sorry for Michael Jackson's death. He was a young good looking boy and he ruined his face to the point he was like a puppet. Too many pills, drugs and indecencies messing with children (have you forgotten now?) he made a lot of money (good luck to him) so he was more clever than you and me in that respect, otherwise my dear mother who died too deserves more respect that this puppet who I wouldn't be surprised he took an overdose feeling under recent pressures in his private life.But never mind they are not going to reveal you all these facts. Apart of that, rest in peace and let's us all start a new healthy life from now on. Thanks.

Innocent TILL PROVEN etc, none of us have led a completely blameless life I am sure. My youngest sister passed away in February 09 she was 55. We all have skeletons lets leave them in the cupboard where they belong. MJ was clever and made money good luck to anyone in that respect but leave the witch hunts if for no other reason than those childre have got to live with this for the rest of thier lives, for thier sakes leave it alone, mourn the passing of a great artist, anyone's private life should be just that

Michaels only crime was being a child himself, he put himself in a bad light i agree but I never believed he molested anyone.....greedy parents at fault here i think. Lets remember Michaels 2 children in all this mud slinging. He was a genius and thats what he should be remembered for, not the media circus surrounding him...after all he was never convicted was he?

You have no idea !!! Learn your facts! He was proven innocent for starters ! Then the people who accused michael of the child mollesting addmitted to the accusations to be lies and actually all michael did to them was that he took them into netherlands as the little boy was ill and michael paid for EVERYTHING for the family and the boy till he had fully recovered then he asked the family to move out and provided them with a big villa but the father demanded more money but michael refused as he had done enough for this family so michael was taken to court for something he did not do. Also there are many documents proving that michael did not mollest the child. As for the colour of his skin and the plastic surgery read this link and look at the pictures i hope your ashamed of yourself after what you have said !!!

Michael was unique kind human being.Why is it that people always want to belive the worst. Well, if only these stars who are all coming out now,supported him when he was accused maybe his heart would not have broken then!!! Perhaps,just perhaps, there is just a chance that a person is ALL good. He had not got a nasty bone in his body, just we can`t ever accept that today. So what if he had surgery,did it really matter.
