Jude Law is to father a fourth child after a relationship with a mystery woman.

The actor's publicist confirmed that the 36-year-old star will play a "fully supportive" role in the child's life despite no longer being in a relationship with the baby's mother.

It is thought Jude dated the woman last Christmas whilst filming the Sherlock Holmes movie. She is seven months pregnant.

A spokeswoman for Jude said: "I can confirm that following a relationship last year, Jude Law has been advised by the birth mother that he is to be the father of a child due in the autumn of this year.

"He is no longer in a relationship with her but he intends to be a fully supportive part of the child's life."

The Talented Mr Ripley star already has three children by his ex-wife, Sadie Frost.
