Sean Penn and wife Robin Wright Penn are getting a divorce - and it appears to be the real thing this time.

The actress filed papers in Marin County, California, stating that "both parties have already agreed to [shared] custody" and "the estranged couple have already agreed to division of all property," People reports.

The Penns have two children, 16-year-old Hopper Hack and 18-year-old Dylan Francis - although it's only their minor son whose custody is relevant.

This isn't the first time the couple have tried to end their marriage. They first filed for divorce back in 2007, but reconciled months later. Then, last April, the Oscar-winning actor asked for a legal separation in court, but retracted his bid in May.

In an interview with More magazine, the Princess Bride star discusses her decision to split from her husband.

"I hit that crossroad a while ago - for Robin, the 'I know what I don't want' was flashing in neon lights. I have no regrets. I, we, have two amazing children we raised together," she explained.

"There's clarity of life now. I think I've always been a follow-the-leader with my career, or maybe waiting for things to happen. Now I'm like, 'I'm OK --- I know the direction, whoever's on board can go with me,'" she said.
