X Factor finalists Kandy Rain and Danyl Johnson who both caused controversy amongst the judgesIt was a dramatic live show for The X Factor last night as the twelve final acts took to the stage for the first time.

First to cause trouble amongst the judges were Kandy Rain who took to the stage in skimpy outfits as they performed Robert Palmer's Addicted To Love.

But it was only their previous careers as pole dancers that Dannii and Cheryl seemed concerned about, with Dannii the first to say: "Kandy rein it in," before Mrs Cole stepped in saying: "You keep saying you want to prove yourself as singers.

"But you dress yourself provocatively and that's the image you give off."

As Simon Cowell stepped in, announcing: "The pole dancing is a good thing, good for you. Nothing wrong with it, earning a living. These girls were never going to like you," Cheryl became visibly annoyed.

When Simon pointed out that both Dannii and Cheryl had performed "practically half naked," Cheryl fought back, saying: "This might be something you'd take to a video once you're an established act.

"But if you're coming on a show trying to prove you're something that you're not, you don't come as something that you are."

No sooner had the dust settled on the judges' first row, than Dannii caused controversy with her comments on final performer Danyl Johnson.

Despite a rousing rendition of I Am Telling You by Whitney Houston, Dannii began by saying: "It was a fantastic performance, a true X Factor performance – turning guys into girls."

But when she followed up with: "No need to change the gender references, if we're to believe everything we read in the press," you could have cut the tension with a knife. Dannii was referring to recent stories that Danyl is bisexual, though her comments were entirely irrelevant to his performance.

As awkward moments go, it was a corker, only broken by Simon saying: "I think we're missing something here. I just heard one of the best performances I ever heard in my life.

"And you can forget playing any of those games with him. I'm not having that. This guy sang his heart out. Give him some credit."

The Daily Mail reports that hundreds of fans had begun commenting on Miss Minogue's comments via the X Factor website.

Still, the judges did agree on one thing... John and Edward were basically a bit rubbish.
