Lembit Opik, it seems, has every reason to look a bit smug. Having already dated weather girl Sian Lloyd and bagged himself one of the Cheeky Girls, the Liberal Democrat MP attended an 80th birthday party for Durex with curvy underwear model Katie Green... and he's already got the supplies in, just in case.

Rumours of the pair's relationship have been flying of late and yet again, Lembit, who these days seems more interested in celebrity parties than actual politics, has been hanging out with the 22-year-old.

Opik's 'friendship' with Katie began after he spoke in her defence (how chivalrous) after she was sacked from Ultimo for being photographed (shock horror) without any bra on at all.

Since then the pair have joined forces for the Say No to Size Zero campaign, and Katie has described their summer together as "a real whirlwind".

But they insist they're just "very, very good friends", so we're told.

Still, with news today that more and more young women are carrying condoms, we suppose Lembit's appearance at the Durex party may have been vaguely attributed to work.

The same can't be said, however, of the fifth birthday celebrations for Reveal magazine at Movida nightclub. The pair moved on to the party along with a host of, um... stars including Danielle Lloyd, Michelle Heaton and Liz McClarnon among others.

It's a mystery people, but Lembit Opik clearly has some animal magnetism that we're just not aware of.

Were Lembit and Katie attending the party just for the goody bag? We may never know. But these celebs have turned freeloading into an art form...
