Playboy paid off my debts - Dannii

She's making a mint these days as a judge on the UK's most popular TV show, but it seems Dannii Minogue has resorted to desperate measures to pay the bills in the past.

The X Factor judge has revealed that she posed nude for Playboy in the '90s because she needed the cash following her marriage split.

Speaking in an interview with Piers Morgan, she explained that she was £150,000 in debt and couldn't afford to pay her rent at the time.

She said: "My parents didn't want me to do it. My dad was saying, 'Doing this is forever - you can never, ever change it'.

"Kylie knew why I was doing it - I could have asked her for the money, but it wasn't in my nature. I never wanted to admit the trouble I was in. I should have been looking at my finances.

"I would never disclose how much - but it had to be a lot to look at my parents' faces and see the anguish in my dad's eyes. I don't regret it, but I feel relieved that people know why I did it - it's a huge weight off my shoulders.

"It was actually fun and I did feel liberated. I looked at the pictures and thought, 'I look alright!"

Dannii's interview will be shown in Piers Morgan's Life Stories on ITV1 on Saturday at 9.45pm.

Of course Dannii wasn't the first famous face to take the magazine's shilling, and she won't be the last celebrity in Playboy...

Unfair comment there Carole. Danni is smart & talented. She has a vast knowledge of the music industry. One of the better judges in my opinion.

Harsh Carol...and untrue. I am trying to understand the "Pathetic individual" comment...how so? However, you are entitled to your opinion. And my opinion is that she is indeed talented and a lovely person....she also has a lot of class.

I somewhat empathised with Danni for being an exhibitionist on playboy.If I were her sister Kylie who is probably a billionaire by now,I would have reached out for Danni during that financial crisis.I would have offered to pay for the expenses rather than Danni stooped to such immoral act.I think family is so important and Kylie should have helped out.When we die we are not taking anything with us.We are here on earth to be tested on how well, kind, loving, understanding, helpful and trusting for our fellow human beings.The magic of the moment is now.It's better to be helpful now than later.I am not saying Kylie should allow any form of abusive behaviour but in the time of needs in the family,I would be the first to help out a family or even a friend in such circumstances,should I earned that lot of moneys.Some people need to follow in the footsteps of Mother Theresa, Lady Diana,Oprah, and Angelina Joli.They are genuine and leave foot prints in our heart.

Danni is a beautiful young woman and very talented. Nobody has the right to judge her morals. How many of us can say we have never done anything in our lives which we are ashamed of?

i love danni and i think she seems a very real person and not looking for sympathy at all times like cheryl cole who sobs at any chance, people should cut her some slack she hasnt actually done anything bad to recieve some of the nasty things said about her in my opinion shes great unfair comment carole

I cant believe you all talk as if you know her inside out. She's just a person like the rest of us. None of you have the right, or knowledge, to judge her as 'pathetic' nor can say 'she's lovely and nice.' It might be good to admire or people's talents (or otherwise) but perhaps spend less time passing comment on them. Talk to, and praise, 'real people' instead.

I've never seen the pictures, didn't even know she did it, but i have to be honest and say.......so what if she did? I couldn't care less what celeb's do in their personal lives, it's their business! It's not stopping her from doing her job, and if Playboy offered any of the women that are on here, how many could honestly say no for getting paid for doing something that naturally?
