Rihanna has spoken for the first time about the "media chaos" surrounding the Chris Brown assault earlier this year, comparing the furore to that experienced by Britney Spears. In an interview with Glamour, the R&B singer said: "I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears. That was the level of the media chaos that happened the next day.
"It was like, 'What, there are helicopters circling my house? There are 100 people in my cul-de-sac? What do you mean, I can't go back home?'."
Rihanna was attacked by her then-boyfriend Brown back in February and he was recently sentenced to five year's probation and six months of community labour.
But it was the image of Rihanna's bruised face that shocked the general public. Speaking about the leaked photograph, Rihanna said: "That is not a photo you would show to anybody. I felt completely taken advantage of... like people were making it into a fun topic... and it's my life."
She did, however, add: "The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that. I want to give as much insight as I can to young women, because I feel like I represent a voice that really isn't heard."
Rihanna is due to appear on television to discuss the incident with Diane Sawyer on Thursday's Good Morning America.
Chris Brown's attack on Rihanna was seriously unpleasant. And sadly she isn't the celebrity crime victim...
