It seems all those reports of Russell Brand being a changed man since he hooked up with Katy Perry could be true, because he's even getting a sensible haircut.

The comic-turned-actor has said that his long hair was limiting the film parts he was being considered for - and that he hopes to broaden his appeal.

He told the Press Association: "I can't keep always playing long-haired, scruffy men, otherwise my career would be limited.

"I was hoping one day to play Napoleon, but I can't play Napoleon as this shaggy-haired, bearded raconteur."

His next film role is in the title role of a remake of the Dudley Moore comedy Arthur.

He said: "Arthur is still an alcoholic billionaire playboy and I'll be getting a bit of a haircut for that. You have to move on... I think I'm ready for transformation."
