Vote: Is Simon Cowell brave or stupid?

Simon Cowell has made a very good living out of telling it like it is, and the public usually tends to grudgingly admit that he's right.

But his brass-necked decision to put Sunday's X Factor decision to the public vote - and thereby keep John and Edward in the contest at the expense of Lucie Jones - has made him public enemy number one in the eyes of many outraged fans.

His massive public U-turn on the twins - who he had previously described as "vile little creatures" and threatened to leave the country if they won - provided one of the biggest telly bombshells of all time.

Many viewers seem outraged at what they see as a cynical decision to keep the twins in after the massive public interest in them - making a mockery of what he often describes as "a singing competition".

But others have applauded his bravery in keeping the most entertaining act in the contest, and his honesty in admitting that Lucie could not have won.

So just like Simon we're putting it to the public vote, and now you can decide whether he was brave or stupid.

If Simon does read these votes I hope he will realise that there are many of us who applaud his act. Whilst I like Lucie and was sad to see her go, the lads are far more entertaining and I look forward to seeing them every week. They are my limelight. Simon had a choice, he hasnt always given Lucie a great interview as indeed we know he certainly hasnt for the boys. Now Simon openly said that he would prefer to see the boys again so he went to deadlock to give Lucie a chance. Well done Simon as you could have just given an unpopular vote one way or the other. Not everyone is against John and Edward.

I only hope that Simon's cop out decision comes back to haunt him and that one of his acts is up against jedwood and the girls save them (even though I think they are more suited to sesame street!) He is so two faced and I have always respected his opinions until last night!

Simon knows exactly what he did saturday night he knows the twins are a couple of childrens entertainers and lucie was better, but he will earn more money and get more coverage on the show by keeping the twins in at the end of the day he wants to make money. the best way people should show they disapprove is not watch the show and not vote by continuing to do so you just fill his ever growing bank balance!! get real people

Im glad Simon did what he did, and i also think John & Edward are a great role model for our children, They show that you do not have to be the very best at everything, but persistance and hard work can pay off.
I think the hate campaign they have against them is pathetic.
They are just 2 young lads making the most of an oppertunity given to them (isant that what everyone should do?)
Also if all those people who say they are never watching Xfactor again indeed do not, at least we will not have all this whinging next week :)

more controversy = more viewers = more votes on premium telephone = more money for him

You lot are the stupid ones, getting worked up about this rubbish. No doubt people will vote in their millions next week on this issue and that means more £££££!!!!

The twins are absolute rubbish, keep in the better acts please - I also think Simon has tactics in place, later on he's more chance of getting one if his acts to win, when the twins are booted off -as they should be - this is a singing contest after all!

i cannot believe simon, how cruel but he is obviously playing the game. he is protecting his own contestants. i hope that next week one of his is up for vote and the tables are turned. i know that the twins are entertaining but no way can they compare with recent winners. get em out and let the real competition start.

What a liberty simon took last night, really appauling i liked lucie, never thought she could win, leave that to simon and his motley crew, lets hope one his boys are in the bottom two next week and wipe that smug smile of his face. I always listened to simon until last night.

Yes! Sharon,I think you are nice person. But the thing is, this is all about the contetsant not about MR. SIMON C.The public vote for thier contestant who make them lough and entertain them while they having relaxation and watch the X-Factor after they have a long day from work. I wish Sharon Osbourne will come back as a X-Factor Juge. I miss her every year the X-Factor frogramme on. I am so sorry for Lucy as she is quite not strong enough compare to the J-E. I just hope that Lucie goes on to bigger and better things, she was one of my favourites and is a very talented girl. It's a pity that Simon couldn't see this, maybe it will take Lucie's success to make him realise what a BIG mistake he's made. Especially when the twins end up being a flash in the pan (if they're lucky) and end up working at Butlins! Simon's gone way down in my estimation and many feel the same. It's a singing competition and they clearly can't sing! And what's with this going to the public vote all the time?! That is happening way to often!!! If you're a judge then judge, don't use the public as a cop out!

Simon is the only judge to tell the truth. I'm sure like the majority of people on saturday/sunday he thought the twins would have the least amount of votes and be voted off, that's why he did what he did.
I feel sorry for Lucie she is a lovely girl and can sing, more than can be said for John & Edward but Simon is right neither of them are good enough to win the X Factor.

Hi Sharon, yes you are right. Simon is not just stupid, he is very very stupid!! I have spoken to loadsa people since last night who feel the same as me - he has made the whole show a complete farce. Jeward cannot sing, whether or not Lucie would have gone on to win is actually beside the point - she sings so much better than the twins. All respect for his expertise has flown out the window not just for me but for everyonw I have talked to about it - Instead of improving ratings he has shot the show in the foot - silly man!!
