Following the shock survival of John and Edward on Sunday night's X Factor the air has been crackling with conspiracy theories and accusations that the show is fixed.

Many viewers claim that Simon Cowell has made a mockery of what he often refers to as a "singing competition" by putting the decision on which contestant got the boot to the public vote - with some even suggesting that he must have known Lucie Jones had got the least votes.

And the fact that the twins are still in the contest adds fuel to the fire of rumours that Simon Cowell has been masterminding their success all along - and was initially feigning his dislike of them before allowing himself to be won over.

Irate fans have left hundreds and hundreds of comments on AOL about the controversial show.

Malcolm said: "Simon knows exactly what he did saturday night he knows the twins are a couple of childrens entertainers and lucie was better, but he will earn more money and get more coverage on the show by keeping the twins in at the end of the day he wants to make money."

And at the last point of counting more than 90,000 people had voted on whether Mr Cowell had been brave or stupid - with 90 per cent saying he was stupid.

But not all the comments were against his decision. Lorraine said: "Im glad Simon did what he did, and i also think John & Edward are a great role model for our children, They show that you do not have to be the very best at everything, but persistance and hard work can pay off."

So what do you reckon? Was Simon just being honest or is it a fix? Vote in our poll and leave your comments below.
