Jane Fonda might have been a bit of a sex siren on screen in the 60s, but she claims the sex is much better once you hit 70.

Even though Jane has recently undergone a series of surgeries on various body parts and, though she says she feels as though she is "rebuilding her body from the inside out" and now boasts an artificial knee and a titanium hip, Fonda says the sex has never been better.

She told German newspaper Bild: "I'm 71 and physically don't feel so good since I'm in pain. But I'm happier, the sex is better and I understand life better. I don't want to be young again."

And Jane, who was for many years an exercise addict, cites a number of reasons for retaining her good looks, saying: "I owe 30 per cent to genes, 30 per cent to good sex, 30 per cent because of sports and healthy lifestyle with proper nutrition and for the remaining 10 per cent – I have to thank my plastic surgeon."

An honest celebrity... whatever next?

But the Barbarella star isn't done yet. Despite all the surgery, Jane revealed she still has a mountain to climb.

She added: "I had to have it all repaired because I want to climb the Himalayas. And at 8,000 metres, my body has to run smoothly."

Fonda may have three failed marriages behind her, but it sounds like happy times for possible husband No. 4, Richard Perry.
