U2 have been confirmed as the headlining act of the Friday night at Glastonbury's 40th festival next year.Festival organiser Michael Eavis had promised "something special" to mark the milestone anniversary.
A source told The Sun: "Michael really wanted a big name for the 40th anniversary and the fact that U2 have never played the festival only adds to the mystique."
U2 had left a gap in their World tour schedule to play the date, on June 25th, 2010.
Eavis has hinted that more superstars will be on the bill - rumours about The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Coldplay or even Led Zeplin are rife.
