In possibly the least surprising celebrity news story of the decade, Katy Perry's father is reported to have said he doesn't think her new boyfriend Russell Brand is "marriage material".

Christian evangelist Keith Hudson (Katy's real name is Katheryn Hudson) recently met legendary womaniser and reformed drug-addict Brand after he visited with Katy.

He said: "I have met Russell. I'm not thinking he's the guy who will be her husband, but he's a nice guy."

There was no mention of whether he was loading a shotgun at the time, or sharpening a knife.

Brand, 35, recently denied that he is planning to move to America to live with Katy, 24, although his luxury Hampstead home is up for sale.
