The big celeb non-Jordan-related story this morning was that Robbie Williams had popped the question to girlfriend Ayda Field live on Australian radio. But now his spokesman has said the proposal was just "a joke" and Robbie and Ayda aren't actually getting hitched after all.
The spokesman said: "He did say it, but he did it in a jocular manner - they are not engaged."
Now we don't want to sound pedantic (we do really), but don't jokes technically have to be funny? Or at least amusing? We're pretty sure they're not supposed to just be annoying anyway.
The denial comes shortly after Robbie appeared on Australia's Kyle And Jackie O Show and sounded very much like he'd asked Ayda to marry him.
He said: "Will you marry me? I love you so much, would you mind being my betrothed until the end of time?"
Ayda replied: "I would love to be your betrothed until the end of time."
And he then reportedly borrowed a "froggie" ring from one of the hosts and slipped it on Ayda's finger.
We wonder if Robbie's heard that story about the boy who cried wolf? We're not going to believe it when he does put a ring on it anyway!
