Russell Brand's transformation from long-haired womanising comedian to... well, long-haired blissfully happy comedian has been remarkable.

And now it appears that the transformation could be complete as the skinny funny man has been spotted out shopping for diamond rings... at Cartier no less.

The News of the World has revealed photos of Russ as he gazes longingly at one particular sparkler prompting rumours of an upcoming celebrity wedding for he and latest lover Katy Perry.

A source from the store told the paper: "His face lit up when he saw this one diamond ring. He put it on his hand and he just gazed at it for ages, deep in contemplation."

Unlikely as it may seem that Russell would ever be "deep in contemplation", there's no doubting that he is a changed man since meeting Katy and he recently told the News of the World: "She's the one. I'm a one-woman gentleman now.
She's really funny and gorgeous. We're having a lot of fun."

Of course, it could just be a Christmas present... either way, the surprise has probably been somewhat ruined for Katy.
